Kitemana Tarifa Vlog 1: Ruben flies the new Cabrinha Aluula Kite

The forecast in the Netherlands almost made us cry but then we checked the Tarifa forecast. Then we just knew that everything was gonna be alright. With four days of Levante lined up and plenty of cool folks in town, Gijs and I packed our bags and made our way.

The goal for this trip was simple: try a bunch of new kites and nail the double loop. In this vlog you can follow our journey as we catch up and ride with Stino from the Space-X team. He shares more about his journey with Cabrinha and we explore some of the new gear they’ve created.

For this trip I packed a Nitro Apex 7m and 8m, and Stino had some magical prototypes of the Cabrinha MotoX Design Works. That’s their new 3-strut Aluula design that Stino really loves riding and throwing double loops with.

Gijs and I both got to ride the new Nitro Apex which is also a great big air kite that is very easy to handle. I rode it on the settings Stino recommended but I didn’t feel fully comfortable yet until I shortened the backlines to the last knot on the pigtail. Then I felt more power and the kite responded much more to my likings. Also the bar feels very comfy on the hands and we had a blast throwing some nice loops.

Then the moment we had all been waiting for. Gijs and I both threw our first double loops on the 6m MotoX Design Works kite. The whole day was already filled with epic action from Stino and others on the spot. So we were pumped up and had to try it. It was just all about the vertical takeoff and committing to keep pulling. Also riding a 6m and big bar made it a bit easier. However the 6m still felt really good and controllable for such a small kite.
