Should I buy a 2mm shorty or a steamer wetsuit?
Whether you should choose a 2mm shorty or springsuit depends on what you expect from your wetsuit. A shorty is a wetsuit with short arms and short legs and is therefore particularly suitable for warm water and air temperatures. In addition, a shorty gives you maximum freedom of movement and you can tan your arms and legs during your session. A springsuit usually has short legs but long arms, which is why it provides a little better protection against wind chill. In addition, a springsuit gives you a little more protection from the sun on the upper body without having to forfeit a lot of freedom of movement.
For which water temperature do I need a 2mm wetsuit?
2mm wetsuits are recommended for water temperatures of 20-22 degrees Celsius, whereby the air temperature and wind chill play an important role when kitesurfing aswell. A long-sleeved 2mm springsuit protects you a little better from wind chill than a shorty and is well suited when the air is a little cooler outside or when you usually kitesurf in very strong winds. If both air and water are over 22 degrees Celsius, a shorty is usually sufficient.
Are there 2mm wetsuits with front zip?
In the Kitemana online shop you can also find 2mm wetsuits with a front zip. You can use the filter function to search specifically for 2mm wetsuits with front zip.
What are the advantages of a 2mm wetsuit when kitesurfing?
A 2mm wetsuit gives you more freedom of movement than a thicker wetsuit and prevents you from getting too hot on the water, because that also can limit your performance during your kitesurfing session. In addition, a 2mm wetsuit gives you sufficient protection from sun and wind chill.
Is a 2mm thick wetsuit suitable for kitesurfing in summer?
Whether a 2mm wetsuit is warm enough in summer depends on the one hand on the water and air temperature and on the other hand on your personal sensitivity. As a rough guide, a 2mm wetsuit is recommended from a water and air temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius.
