We can always help you buy the right kite through professional advice. Especially as a beginner kitesurfer, you will have many questions. Not only the dimensions are important when buying a kite. The type, shape, and type of kite are also important factors. Below we have listed and answered the most frequently asked questions when buying a kite. Do you have another question? Feel free to contact us via email, phone, or WhatsApp.

Which kite should I buy?

The kite that suits you best, and the kite you should buy, varies from person to person. The most important thing is, of course, that you have as much fun as possible while kitesurfing, and a well-fitting kite is very important for that. The best kite for you depends on many different factors. For example, it is important to know whether you are a beginner or an advanced kitesurfer. But also what you enjoy doing the most. For instance, do you like to jump high with your kite or mainly ride waves? Especially as a beginner kitesurfer, it is difficult to determine which kite you need. That's why we're here to help you with your choice.

What are the differences between freeride, freestyle, wave, lightwind, and big air kites?

For every kitesurfing discipline, a special kite has been developed to get the most out of your kitesurfing session. Depending on your style, you can always choose the perfect kite. Freeride kites are often versatile (all-round), comfortable to ride with, and easy to jump with. Suitable for all kitesurfing levels. Freestyle kites are direct and a bit more aggressive. They give you a lot of pop and slack for the sickest unhooked tricks. Often these kites are only suitable for advanced kitesurfers. Wave kites are easy to control with a lot of drift and large depower. Additionally, wave kites have a fast relaunch. Ideal for wave kitesurfers but also beginners. Lightwind kites have a lightweight construction and build power very effectively.
Big air kites often have a more open profile, are powerful, and give you a tremendous amount of lift and hangtime!

How many kites do I need for kitesurfing?

At the beginning, one kite is enough. We recommend starting with the largest kite in your potential set. Eventually, you will need multiple kites to safely and comfortably kiteboard in different wind speeds / wind strengths. Most kiteboarders have a set of two or three kites to have the widest possible wind range. But if you have multiple favorite kiteboarding disciplines such as hydrofoiling, for example, you may also want an additional kite specifically for that discipline. Well, this hobby sometimes becomes a bit excessive...

How do I choose the right kite size?

Choosing the right kite size depends on several factors. Firstly, the correct kite size depends on your weight. Additionally, it's important to consider how many kites you ultimately want to have (or already have), so that you choose an appropriate size for that. Your kiteboarding level and your favorite riding style are also important. Plenty of things to take into account. Most kiteboarders have two to three kites: a small kite for stormy conditions, a kite for the most common wind conditions at your home spot, and a kite for days with lighter wind so you don't have to miss out on a kiteboarding session. If you're unsure, feel free to contact us for advice.

What is the best beginner's kite?

As a beginner kitesurfer, it's important to choose a kite that fits well with your level and has the characteristics to help you progress quickly as a beginner. As a beginner, you can choose kites from the all-round, freeride, and wave kite categories. The requirements for a beginner's kite are:

  • Easy upwind riding
  • Forgiving riding characteristics
  • Versatile
  • Quick relaunch
