Most frequently asked questions when buying a second-hand twintip:
Waarom een tweedehands kiteboard kopen?
Buying a second-hand kiteboard can have several benefits and can definitely work in your favor. One of the biggest reasons is cost savings. Second-hand kiteboards are significantly cheaper than new boards. This makes it a budget-friendly option for kitesurfers who want to enjoy the sport without making a large investment. Especially for beginners, it allows you to master kitesurfing without the risk of damaging an expensive, new board or losing it. Additionally, second-hand gear is better for the environment. By encouraging the reuse of kite gear, we help reduce the amount of waste. This is not only good for your wallet but also for the planet.
At Kitemana, all second-hand kiteboards are carefully inspected for any damage. We guarantee that each board is in good condition and still delivers excellent performance. Kitemana offers a wide range of second-hand kiteboards from the best brands. Whether you are looking for a kiteboard for specific wind conditions, wave riding, or freestyle, we definitely have a suitable board for you.
Waarop moet je letten bij het kopen van een tweedehands kiteboard?
If you're considering purchasing a second-hand kiteboard, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure you get a good deal and don't end up with a board that feels like its best days are long gone. Before spending your money, inspect the board thoroughly. Look for cracks, delamination (where the layers of the board start to separate), and check the fins and pads (if they are included). Take your time to examine the board carefully. A small ding here or there can often be repaired, but major structural damage can be a sign that the board belongs in a surf museum rather than on the water.
Size
Kiteboards typically range in length from about 130 cm to 150 cm and in width from 28 cm to 48 cm. Don't worry about finding the right proportions between length and width; manufacturers have already figured this out for you. However, you do need to know what length you need. A board that is too small will sink faster, requiring more power from your kite to move forward. It will also feel less stable. On the other hand, a board that is too large can feel sluggish and difficult to control.
Material
Should I get a full wood or carbon kiteboard? Almost all kiteboards have a wood core. Wood is strong, flexible, and provides a comfortable ride. It also gives you good feedback while riding and ensures a good pop, which is perfect for big jumps. Freeride kiteboards typically have a wooden core. Then we have the carbon boards. A layer of carbon over the wood core saves weight, as carbon is lighter than fiberglass. Compared to fully wooden kiteboards, carbon boards are also stiffer and feel more responsive. Beginners often find this less comfortable and too unstable.
Ultimately, it all comes down to your level, weight, and personal preference. Are you a beginner still learning the ropes? Go for a board that is more forgiving and larger. Are you an experienced kiter who loves carving and making high jumps? Then a slightly stiffer board with carbon and a smaller size might be just what you need.
