What size do I have in wetsuits?

Unfortunately, there is no general answer to this question. Depending on the brand and the wetsuit model, the fit and thus the size may vary. In our Kitemana online shop you will find a size chart for every wetsuit, with which you can find the right size of the respective wetsuit based on your body measurements. If you need help finding the right size for you, you can always contact us!

With which women's wetsuit can I kitesurf in winter?

If you want to kitesurf in Northern Europe in winter, you need, depending on your personal sensitivity to cold, at least a 5mm, if not a 6mm thick wetsuit with an integrated hood. In addition, you should think about accessories such as gloves and neoprene shoes, as well as a neoprene top that you can put under your wetsuit as an additional layer.

Which women's wetsuit will keep me particularly warm?

To make sure, that a wetsuit keeps you particularly warm, you should consider the thickness of the neoprene and the inner lining and also the number of seams and how they are processed. The thicker the neoprene, the warmer your wetsuit will keep you. It should be equipped with a good lining, especially on the upper body, chest and back, and ideally have a hood that prevents you from losing body heat through your head.
When it comes to the seams of a wetsuit, the fewer seams used, the warmer the wetsuit will be. However, too few seams lead to a loss of flexibility and adaptability, which is why finding a good balance here is essential. The seams of a warm high-end wetsuit are usually glued and blind stitched and sealed with tape on the inside so that no water can come through. The seams in particularly warm winter wetsuits are usually processed with liquid tape, which makes the wetsuit almost waterproof.

Which wetsuit keeps me warm in spring and autumn?

A recommended wetsuit for spring and autumn in Northern Europe is a 4mm or 5mm, depending on your personal sensitivity to the cold. You should not only pay attention to the water temperature, but also the air temperature and the wind strength in which you want to kitesurf. In order to be able to react to the often inconsistent temperatures in spring and autumn, it is advisable to have additional accessories such as an additional neoprene jacket, a hood, neoprene shoes or gloves.

Should I choose a womens wetsuit with frontzip or a backzip?

Whether you should choose a wetsuit with front zip or back zip depends on what you expect from your wetsuit. A front zip or chest zip ensures that your wetsuit can adapt better to your body and it is warmer because less water can get through the smaller zip on the front of the chest. A backzip wetsuit, on the other hand, is easier to put on because the entry is larger than with a frontzip. However, a little more water gets into a backzip, which is why this type of zipper is recommended for wetsuits that you wear in warmer conditions. A front zip is ideal for wetsuits that are supposed to insulate well and to give you plenty of freedom of movement during your session.

Is a 3mm women´s wetsuit warm enough for kitesurfing in summer?

A 3mm thick wetsuit is recommended for a water temperature of 17-22 degrees Celsius, which is quite common in the northern European summer. Whether a 3mm wetsuit is sufficient for you in summer also depends on how sensitive you are to the cold, how warm the air temperature and the wind strength is, as the wind chill can also cool you down. A hoody or neoprene jacket can help out here for colder summer days.

Which women's wetsuit is particularly comfortable?

A wetsuit feels particularly comfortable when it adapts perfectly to your body and when it feels nice and soft on the inside. A wetsuit fits perfectly when it does not wrinkle anywhere when you wear it. In addition, thick neoprene is less flexible than thin neoprene, which is why summer wetsuits feel more comfortable than thick winter wetsuits. Likewise, a wetsuit with many seams can adapt better to your body than a wetsuit with only few seams, but it also keeps you less warm, which is why you have to prioritize to a certain extent. If the seams are well processed on the inside and the lining is nice and soft, this leads to a high level of comfort. Well-processed seams are glued and blind stitched and sealed with additional tape from the inside, which means that only little water can get inside the wetsuit and that there will be no rubbing on the skin.

Can I kitesurf in winter with a 5mm wetsuit?

A 5mm wetsuit is recommended when the water temperature is between 10-17 degrees Celsius, so a 5mm wetsuit can be sufficient in a mild Northern European winter. In any case, your 5mm wetsuit should be of high quality for the winter and a model with a hood provides additional warmth. You should also wear neoprene shoes and gloves. If the winter does get crisper, you can add extra warmth to your 5mm wetsuit with a neoprene hoody or jacket.

Do I need a short shorty wetsuit for summer?

A shorty wetsuit is recommended from a water temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. However, the outside temperature should also be correspondingly warm, as the wind chill should not be underestimated when kitesurfing. In Northern Europe, so-called springsuit wetsuits are also very useful, which have short legs and long arms and thus better protect against cooling. When the temperatures in Europe are up or if you plan a warm kitesurfing vacation, a shorty is often the right choice!
