Naish Kiteboarding the Brand
Naish has been on the market since the beginning of the sport and was one of the first brands to start with kitesurfing items. The brand is led by the legendary Robby Naish who currently has 24 world titles to his name and is known as a pioneer of kitesurfing, wingsurfing and Stand Up Paddling. Naish has its head office in beautiful Hawaii, where Naish's R&D and marketing are located. Naish is a driven brand and always strives for the best of the best. The brand is unique and bears the name of a living legend in all water sports. Naish has a product portfolio including kites, kitesurf boards, surfboards, windsurf boards, sails, foils, foil boards and a wide range of accessories. Since 2023, Naish has been taken over by the respected Kubus Sports. Both companies have a history of more than 20 years in the sport. Kubus has a portfolio of +10 premium brands such as Prolimit, STX and Nitro snowboards. Together with Robby, Kubus aims to continue working on the Naish brand and help the kite sport with the latest technologies.
Naish Kiteboarding de History
Naish's roots go back to 1970 when Robby Naish learned to windsurf on the beach of Oahu. From here, Robby Naish has managed to win not 1,2, but TWENTY-FOUR world titles. During this period the Naish family had a shop and it was only when kitesurfing became more famous in the late 90s that Robby embraced the sport with both hands. Naish took off and was the heart of the sport for the first few years. Whether you like to surf through a barrel or go faster and higher than ever before, Naish kites will help you. Since the inception of Naish, the surf brand has been developing and producing high-quality kite, wind and surf gear. Naish was started by living windsurfing legend Robby Naish himself. His passion for water sports is reflected in the development of Naish kites, boards, surfboards and more. Naish has also been a favorite with the Dutch for years. For example, pro kitesurfers Jalou and Kevin have sailed their favorite C-kite, the Torch, for years. Kevin Langeree also won the 2018 and 2019 King of the Air after his switch to the Pivot. In addition to kites, Naish also makes great surfboards, kiteboards and, since 2017, high-quality foils. Since 2013, Naish has been taken over by Kubus Sports. With a head office in the Netherlands, it is the owner of a great distribution platform with brands such as STX, Prolimit, Storm, Ohana, Brabo Hockey, Brabo Padel, STX Sneeuw, Atom and Prinses Hockey. Together with Robby Naish, Kubus will strengthen and further grow the brand in the coming years.

Naish Kiteboarding development
In the pioneering years of kitesurfing, a number of windsurfers, including Robby Naish, Pete Cabrinha, Don Montague and many more, experimented with everything their creative brains could come up with, two-line kites with enormous bars without, for example, the well-known chicken loop. It was just testing and development day in and day out. Ultimately, Naish grew into one of the largest brands in the world. In 1999, Naish really started to believe in kitesurfing and got the feeling that this could become a big sport. That year, Naish kiteboarding launched its first kitesurfing kite, the AR 3.5, a kite with two lines. Later that year, Naish kiteboarding released the first kiteboard, the Sky Pirate.
At that time, the kiteboards were about 7 feet long, which is about 2 meters! Times have changed, the kites have become bigger, safer and stronger. The kiteboards have gone from super small 1.24m like the Naish Thorn in 2006 to slightly larger 1.38 like the new Naish Monarch. In 2008, Naish came up with a very special kite model, the sigma shape. The sigma model was supposed to turn the kite world upside down, but it turned out not to be so bad. The new model caused a lot of confusion due to its completely different shape than was normal. The sigma model had a super good low and high end, it was also good in gusty winds and easier to restart because the entire leading edge was not in the water. The disadvantages of the model were that it was not really comfortable on the beach, the wind came under it more, causing it to blow off the beach more quickly... But the special shape and looks in particular prevented the kites from really breaking through. We don't know where Naish kiteboarding and the entire kitesurfing sport will ultimately go, but it is getting better and we are curious about what Naish can bring us in the future of the kitesurfing sport.
Naish kites over the years
Naish Kiteboarding has a long history in the development of kitesurfing kites within the kitesurfing world. Below is an overview of the different kites over the years.
The Naish AR 3.5 was the first kitesurfing kite that Naish launched on the market. This two-line kite was the kite at the time. Later it could even be converted into a 4-line kite.
The Naish Sigma series was a real game changer at the time, according to Naish. The Sigma had a so-called 'Supported Leading Edge'. The Leading Edge is not really shaped like we are used to, but was very angular. The unique leading edge ensures that the kite rotates faster, has less bar pressure and restarts easier.
The Naish Helix was one of the Sigma kites that was more curved than before, with larger wingtips. The kite was intended for more advanced kitesurfers and was described at the time as a 'beast'.
The Naish Cult was a real freeride kite that was also part of the Sigma series. With new wingtips, lower air resistance and a reinforced construction, this was the kite you had to have at the time. The kite was perfect for beginners and advanced users thanks to the smooth pull and friendly loops.
The Naish Park was the kite that could really do it all. The Compact C-kite outline with the 3 strut design makes the kite stable and responsive. The kite uses just enough sweep for maximum depower and easy restartability.
The Naish Boxer was previously a hardcore C-shaped kite. Nowadays the Naish Boxer is a friendly single strut kite with a compact C shape. Thanks to the single strut design, the kite is perfect for light weather days. In combination with a foil, directional or even a twin tip, this is the perfect kite for when the wind is a little less windy.
The Naish Pivot is perhaps one of the best-known kites within the Naish line-up. Since Kevin Langeree's King of the Air win, this became the most famous big air kite on the market.
The Naish Slash is the pure wave/strapless freestyle kite from Naish. With a lot of drift, good low-end and a large wind range, this was the kite for the waves.
The Naish Triad is an all-round freeride kite that is perfect for novice and advanced kitesurfers. The kite is perfect for mastering kitesurfing and making progress as quickly as possible.
The Naish Torch is designed for hooking out. With its hardcore C-shape, this was and is the favorite kite of team rider Ewan Jaspan, among others. The kite is perfect for advanced riders who are looking for a kite with thick slack and 5 lines.
Naish kiteboarding kiteboards
Naish kiteboards are of high quality and are without a doubt among the better boards on the market. The kiteboards are robust and strong, so they will last for years. Naish has many kiteboards, surfboards and foil boards in its range for beginners to pro kitesurfers. Kiteboards such as the Naish Monarch, Naish Drive, Naish Motion and the Naish Hero are known for their great performance. Freeride, freestyle or big air, Naish is guaranteed to have a kiteboard in its range for every discipline. Naish also has plenty of surfboards. Surfboards such as the Naish Skater, Naish Go-to, Naish Gecko and Naish Global are made of the best materials and each has its own preferred discipline. Naish also has an abundance of foil board and kite foils. The Naish Hover and Naish foils double your sessions and ensure that you will have a lot of fun on the water even with the slightest breeze. The latest technologies are also used in the kiteboards, such as the Keel Lock Spine. The Keel Lock Spinge ensures that the water is drained as best as possible and improves the pop. All Naish kiteboards also have centered inserts, allowing you to rotate the pads over time. Naish also has one of the best bindings of the moment. Since 2016, Naish has had the Apex binding in their range, in our opinion a superior binding with a perfect fit for almost everyone. The Apex can be adjusted at four different points with Velcro. This means that almost every foot fits perfectly in the binding. Naish also has two options for the pad: a soft and a hard pad. If you have been looking for a very good binding for a long time, we definitely recommend this one. The Naish Apex binding is widely available in stock in our webshop!
